The source critiqued in this Journal is an article from psychology today discussing addiction during the pandemic. The author, a former addict and current addiction recovery specialist is addressing the issue of addiction and the lack of treatment during the pandemic. His point is that the closure of treatment centers has caused an uprising and enabling of addiction in both former addicts and new ones. The audience is presumably those in a position to change the lockdowns and restrictions on treatment centers. The author supported his claims with evidence from the CDC and other sources that show a lack of addiction treatment and a rise in addiction rates.
