Journal #13

There was a time I wrote an essay on political polarization in American that I believe did not resonate with the audience addressed. The essay was not about taking one side of the aisle. It was about how people have become so entrenched in their views that the margin for civility has been all but destroyed. Unfortunately, the audience invoked were those interested in politics and cared for civic duty. This, unfortunately, was not the case for my high school class. They cared more about their next class, or who they were going to sit next to at lunch than civic duty and political polarization. A way to rectify this and make the addressed audience and the audience invoked similarly is to incorporate direct effects politics have on the audience to make them more interested in the topic at hand.
